UFO How-To Volume VI: Inertial Propulsion Systems
Space travel for man existed before
Apollo and Sputnik
Since before rocketry became a
feasible method of local space
travel, man has been dreaming
and creating methods of reaching
the heavens that are recorded by
the Patent Office.
Whether you believe any of the
inventors to be a modern day Icarus or not,
the Patent Office wouldn't grant a patent
that made apparently extreme claims like these
unless the applicant:
1) Had a working prototype;
2) Could articulate what the invention did;
3) Could convince a patent examiner
that the invention actually was what
the claim made it out to be.
This is a fascinating history of air
and space travel; a record of
human hope and success in innovation harnessing momentum, inertial, centrifugal and centripetal forces.
Excerpts from 10 of the 53 entries taken at random from Volume VI of the UFO How-To series, Inertial Propulsion,
and in no particular order:
"The device according to the present invention can be used for laboratory work as well as for driving any moveable bodies such as road or rail vehicles, or aircraft and spacecraft."
"This invention concerns of a new flying disk shaped flying/space vehicle which uses a new technique of thrust through the rolling of a wheel. This new vehicle using basic principles of the physics is able to travel with tremendous higher speeds than the speeds of the prior state of art flying vehicles, avoid/face air pockets, get back to the horizontal level from every slope as well as fly under every slope, change altitude and direction at will, land vertical and maintain a steady flight for the whole time of flight. For the shake of shortness from now on we will refer to this vehicle with the name "airwheel"."
"This invention relates to a new and improved propulsion or
motive unit, which finds application in the propulsion, support, braking and
steering of vehicles on land, at sea, in the air or in space. The motive
unit of the present invention does not act on the ambient medium, and this
explains its ability to act efficiently even in space."
"This method is intended to provide propulsion particularly to space vehicles in rarified atmosphere where the force required is comparatively small, and where economy, compactness, long lasting source of power, and a minimum of maintenance is essential. It should be especially noted that this method of propulsion is not intended as a means for raising the vehicle off the ground nor for propelling it through normal or dense atmosphere."
"Airplanes, spacecraft and motorized boats all expel material
away from themselves in order to travel forward. In the case of a boat, water is
forced backward, and, in the case of an airplane, air is pushed backwards. This
is also true of spacecraft and satellites that travel outside the atmosphere. A
major problem is that a spacecraft can only carry a limited amount of fuel with
which to accelerate and change direction. This invention addresses this problem.
No material is expelled in the opposite direction of travel of the system. A
source of power is required to operate the new propulsion system, but the new
system does not violate Newton's Laws or the Conservation of Linear Momentum. It
has been wrongly assumed that such a system could not be built without violating
either of the above laws. Although the above laws cannot be violated, the proper
conditions can be set up within the system to utilize these laws to accomplish
the function of the invention: which is to move forward or backward in space,
water, air or on the ground without expelling any matter to the outside
environment other than heat. The system has been reduced to practice and
functions as described infra and additionally, the system fits a mathematical
model for this type of operation."
"The present invention relates to a device for the conversion of centrifugal force to linear force and, therefore, linear motion. The device may be used to propel any common vehicle such as automobiles, rail cars, and marine, aviation and space carriers, and the like."
"A method and apparatus is disclosed for providing a propulsive force to a dynamic body without having to interact with an external mass. The technique is based on an internal exchange of kinetic energy working in concert with the influence of an ancillary force such as gravity to produce a net momentum change in the body. In one embodiment a body may be rotated through space without having to expel propellant or otherwise resort to an interaction with an external mass. In another embodiment, the invention can be used to dampen a swaying motion or vibration of a body such as a tall, earth-bound tower or a beam in a space station when there is no convenient external mass to which the body may be anchored."
"The present invention relates to a propulsion system for a vehicle. It has particular utility in the propulsion and/or positioning of space vehicles."
"A thrust producing apparatus comprising a gyrostat having a gyrostat wheel, apparatus for supporting the gyrostat, apparatus for toppling the gyrostat creating precessional force in a predetermined direction against the supporting apparatus, and apparatus for rotating the gyrostat into an orientation whereby it can again be toppled while avoiding the creation of precessional force in a direction opposite to the predetermined direction. Controlled unidirectional movement of the apparatus based on gyrostatic precession is thereby obtained."
"An efficient system for converting the powerful and easily generated centrifugal force into linear force. Such a system would find extensive use in all areas of the transportation industry. Most promisingly, on both the very large scale and the small scale, it would be useful in space. Most particularly, it lends itself easily to being powered atomically."
Inertial propulsion systems are means to harness the forces of physics to achieve a safer means of flight than are available commercially at this time. You find yourself getting very excited about this book and feel the urge to buy now because you you realize the potential opportunity that that the science of inertial propulsion brings: Flight, boating, and land transportation that is many times more efficient than that which is available; Aircraft that will be unaffected by "holes" in the atmosphere; Cars that emit limited or no pollutants...
